Mental Health
Our health flourishes in places where we are seen, safe, and cared about.

Approach To Care

Dr. Lexau’s approach to care is informed largely by a cognitive behavioral perspective. This approach is based on the idea that it is not so much what happens to us that shapes our lives, but how we make sense of what happens to us. In other words, how we feel and how we react to events in our lives is influenced strongly by our beliefs and how we think. Our thinking is often unreasonable or distorted, and this kind of thinking is a source of suffering.

Dr. Lexau’s approach to care is also influenced by the principles of mindfulness. These principles include the effort to truly live our lives in the present; to detach from the push and pull of the future and past; to be more aware of our judgments, to practice compassion towards ourselves and others.
